La Pequeña Revancha
Visual concept for the album Pasos Sincopados

Context
La Pequeña Revancha is one of my favorite Venezuelan bands, a Caracas-based duo formed by Claudia Lizardo and Juan Olmedillo. Their music moves between pop, folk, and rock, exploring different moods through a poetic world that evokes intimacy, nostalgia, and quiet reflection.
For this university assignment, we were asked to develop a visual concept for an album we liked at the time. I chose Pasos Sincopados and created a promotional graphic concept inspired by its emotional world, using the song “Yo era el sol” as a starting point.
Visual concept
The song explores identity, who we once were, and the distance between who we are now and our past selves. Starting from this idea, I explored memory and nostalgia through an original photographic series featuring a young girl and a woman to evoke different stages of life.

The palette of yellows, ochres, and earth tones draws on the song’s luminosity, while painterly textures and brushstrokes connect photography with painting, a reference also present in the original album artwork. Together, these techniques shaped a warm, intimate visual language in which the images suggest an atmosphere rather than tell a story literally.

Graphic system
I carried this visual language into an album artwork concept and a series of promotional materials, including posters and point-of-purchase (POP) materials. The altered photography, painterly textures, color palette, and typography serve as recurring elements across the different applications, creating a cohesive graphic system around the music of Pasos Sincopados.

In the end, I fulfilled one of my dreams: La Pequeña Revancha used my poster for their concert in Mérida.
